artpost #25

"Don't cut me down.
I'm just a dream behind."

This piece is from 2004. It is a reflection on my 2003 hospitalization; a struggle to grow from and get over the past. Before I was hospitalized, I hallucinated words in tree branches. The "butterfly" needle is a type of needle used to draw blood. I had a traumatic experience with fainting upon getting my blood drawn on the first day of my hospitalization. I spent three months in a psychiatric ward for acute psychosis at age 15.

The branches read: "I WILL FIND MY WAY"

artpost #14

I have been making a lot of steps toward going back to art school. I have a good number of strong, older pieces. I'm not sure about new stuff.

I'm trying, at least.

Still lifes from Drawing 1. 2006, freshman year at Montserrat. Charcoal & pastel on 24 " x 18 " paper.

Same kettle, different class periods.

Half a lemon; a skull, horn, orange and a clock.

This last still life was drawn as a mid-term assignment. A "still life self portrait", which includes a David Bowie album, a fedora, an Indian doll, a stuffed animal, and a rear view mirror. I called it "The Secret Hero".
